- Toyota Tundra
- Toyota Tacoma
- GMC Sierra
- Jeep Gladiator
- Ford Ranger (5 ft)

Operational Guidelines
- Wind Resistance: When fully closed, the unit maintains the same wind resistance level as the original vehicle. When deployed, it handles up to Level 6 winds (11-14m/s); with the awning open, it handles up to Level 4 (6-8m/s). It is not recommended for extreme weather such as strong winds or heavy rain.
- Water Resistance: The outer layer is 100% waterproof, but the connection to the truck bed is not fully sealed. Light water seepage in the truck bed may occur during rain or snow, so the use of a rain cover or additional sealing is recommended if you have specific waterproofing needs for your gear.

Deployment & Mounting: Manual Winch vs. Automatic Lift
The Wingman X is engineered to be a semi-permanent addition to your truck, but we know that flexibility is key. Whether you are prepping for a cross-country expedition or returning home to "daily driver" mode, here is how the two mounting systems compare.
The Standard Manual Winch System
The Wingman X comes standard with a high-torque manual winch system. This is a prime solution for the rugged minimalist.
- The Process: To mount the Wingman, you’ll put togethre a hand-crank winch to clear your truck bed and align the chassis. It requires a bit of "trail-side elbow grease" to lift and lower the unit into the mounting brackets.
- Best For: Those who plan to leave their Wingman X on the truck for long durations and don't mind a longer manual mounting process.
The Automatic Lift System
If you value your time as much as your gear, the Automatic Lift System is the ultimate upgrade. Designed to turn a two-person job into a one-button luxury experience, this system transforms the way you interact with your truck.
- Effortless Integration: Using the integrated power-lift actuators, the Wingman X does the heavy lifting for you. Simply align your truck, activate the lift via the remote or the App, and watch the system glide into position.
- Precision Alignment: The automatic system provides smoother, more granular control than a hand-winch, ensuring your seals and brackets align perfectly every time without the physical strain.
- Rapid Transition: Swap from work mode to trip mode in a fraction of the time. It makes removing the unit for a quick dump-run or garage storage a task you’ll actually want to do, rather than a chore you avoid.
- Best For: The premium traveler who wants the reliability of letting the system work for you. If you frequently swap between gear setups or simply want the most advanced tech on the market, this is the pro-level choice.
Addressing Installation Concerns
A common question we get is: "Is the Automatic System harder to install?"
Actually, it’s the opposite. While the automatic system adds more tech, the installation is simpler and quicker than the manual wench due to the integration into the Wingman X.
- No Drilling Required: Both the manual and automatic systems utilize our proprietary "No-Drill" chassis clamps. You get the strength of a permanent bolt-on with the ease of a temporary rack.
- Pre-Wired for Success: The Automatic Lift System comes with a dedicated vehicle power cable that integrates directly into your truck’s power supply. We’ve handled the complex electrical engineering at the shop so you don't have to.
The Verdict
The Manual Winch is a testament to Wild Land’s rugged roots, it will never let you down. But for the Wingman X, the Automatic Lift System is the perfect partner. It completes the high-tech ecosystem and ensures your adventure starts the second you hit the driveway.
What if my truck model isn't listed?
Because the Wingman bolts onto the chassis (and the chassis clamps onto the truck), you aren't drilling holes into your actual truck bed. This allows a one-size fits all... almost.
